About This Site

Licentia Loquendi is an independent blog launched in January 2026 by Dave W. Subscribers receive full access to the site, along with email notifications when new content is published. Subscriptions directly support the continuation of this work, and that support is appreciated.

The name Licentia loquendi—literally, “the license to speak”—once referred to an earned right: the freedom to speak plainly and honestly within serious discourse. This site adopts the term in that older sense. It is a place for thoughtful, unguarded reflection on belief, meaning, and the enduring questions of life. What appears here is not argument for its own sake, nor performance for an audience, but an attempt to examine ideas carefully, name things as they are, and speak with clarity rather than volume.

This site exists to share my personal reflections, thoughts from a life lived with attention. Having spent decades observing the world through service, travel, work, and ordinary experience, I write here to explore what seems worth thinking about and worth saying aloud. These essays are not instructions or manifestos. They are considered observations, offered without pretense and without apology.

You can expect writing on everyday life, current events, philosophy, religion, culture, and other subjects that invite serious thought. The tone is direct and personal. Nothing here claims final authority, but everything here is written in good faith.

On Discussion and Engagement

Thoughtful disagreement is welcome. Civilized conversation is expected. This site values clarity, restraint, and good-faith engagement over volume, outrage, or theatrics. Comments and correspondence are encouraged from those willing to argue ideas rather than people, and to speak as adults rather than as avatars.

Engagement here is governed by the same principles outlined in the Comment Policy: courtesy, seriousness of intent, and respect for the space. Contributions that meet those standards are welcome. Those that do not will not be published.
